Online personality Chris Pirillo is certainly causing something of a stir by jumping ship on Microsoft (mostly) to embrace the Mac OS X. However, while I found his 50 reasons for switching to be interesting, it's only fair to note that Chris Pirillo is not making a personal rejection of all things Microsoft. According to Chris Pirillo's blog, he is keeping Microsoft Outlook and Exchange, and cherishing his Microsoft mouse, but for almost everything else, Chris Pirillo is switching to the Mac train. Among the reasons he cites in his blog are: "Seems that the future of Windows development is happening largely for corporate environments and customers. I don’t take issue with this other than being someone who doesn’t live or work inside a corporate environment at home." Chris Pirillo also notes, "Excellent power management in OS X. When I close the lid to my MacBook Pro, it falls asleep. When I open the lid to my MacBook Pro, it wakes up. Imagine that! Seems to be the case 99% of the time, and it happens quickly." While I agree that Mac software and operating systems are far less buggy than Microsoft's many users might experience culture shock in moving over to the very different way that Mac users have to perform simple functions that Microsoft users will have to learn all over again.
